A Domain Name is a unique name that you choose for your web site. All websites are identified only by their names called as domain names (e.g: www.google.com, www.yahoo.com).

The domain names have to be registered for having the ownership for that name.

Syntax: name.extension
domain names are of the syntax - name followed by a dot(.) followed by the extension.
e.g: www.snb-bg.com

You have to choose a domain name that can be easily remembered by your user and should be as short as possible.

A Domain Name can have alphabets, numbers and hyphen (-).

The following are the main criteria or characteristics that a domain name can have.

a) Alphabets are accepted (e.g: withfriendship).
b) Numbers are accepted (e.g: 12343121).
c) Combination of alphabets and numbers (alphanumeric) are accepted (e.g: 1d2f2g).
d) Only non alphanumeric character that is accepted is hyphen (-) (e.g: asdd-asdd).
e) Maximum length of domain name can not be more than 64 characters long (including extensions like .com).
f) A valid domain extension (e.g: .com, .net, .org )


The name that does not follow the above criteria will not be accepted for registration.

Also domain names are case in-sensitive.
They can not be differentiated based on lower or upper case letters.
i.e SNB-BG.COM == snb-bg.com, both are same.

Choosing Domain Name:
Follow the steps to choose a domain name.
a) Choose a name that is short at generic.

b) Choose the extensions that you might prefer.

c) Check for the availability of the domain name in all preferred extensions.

d) It may already have been registered by other users. If it was not available for registration go for a different name.

Registering Domain Name:
You can register a name for a period ranging from 1 to 20 years.

a) How to register a domain name: Just give us your details and choose the name you wish to own. We will do the registration.

b) The cost may vary depending on the TLD (.com/.net/etc..).

c) Once you have registered for a domain, it may take from 24 to 48 hours before the information gets updated universally in the whois database.

d) Once registration is completed you are the sole owner of the name till the registration period expires.


After the domain name is registered you will be provided with a username and password. Using it you can change the name server and personal details.
