Today I had interesting experience, I needed to add new network printer to all company computers (the printer attached to Windows XP Home Eddition machine), and some of those machines are XP and others Vista. All XP boxes found and added the printer without any problem ... so far so good, but all Vista machines (one laptop and one desktop computer) were giving me the same error "Access denied". After short research in google I found this article http://forums.techguy.org/windo...ed-network-printers.html and in deed adding the printer like local printer just work!

Go to Control Panel. Choose printer. Then choose Add Printer.

Choose Add a local printer. Click on Create a new port. The default in the drop down box should be Local Port. Click Next.

A dialogue box will appear asking for you to enter a port name. Type in the \\computer name\printer name.

Hope it will help you as it helped me.
